Integrated Resort Development

First locally developed urban design masterplan for the guesthouse and integrated resort development sector.

L Thumburi’s vision and its proposed development plan ensure that the future hospitality assets are positioned across demand high market segments from budget hotels to mid market beach front resorts. The project offers a significant number of opportunities for investment, supported by key sub-elements all which drive growth and sustainability to the region.

Charrette Studio provided landscape design and architectural services to create a masterplan for an integrated resort development project in L Thumburi. The project was designed for two small islands in Laamu Atoll and Charrette’s vision for this project included a bridge built between the two to maximize the use of both land areas.

A detailed landscape and visual assessment was carried out to create common infrastructures like electricity, sewage, water and jetty services to be ready for investors to come in and start their developments. Moreover, the overall plan included amenities such as beach hotels, commercial buildings, restaurants, open and green spaces, jetties, dive centers, water sports centers, bars, cafe’s and spas that were incorporated into the natural space. A thorough assessment of the place was done and with sustainability and the environment as a key concept in all of our work, we identified wind and view corridors and designed the island so as to maximize sustainability and good health effects while minimizing environmental impacts.
